8 Ball sitting right at the corner pocket....Cue ball back in the kitchen area. What is the best way to hit the 8 ball in without scratching? Top right....low right? I got fancy and hit to the left of the pocket thinking as it came off the cushion it would hit the 8-ball in and then travel over to the right cushion...game won. Instead I hit to far in front of the pocket, it missed the 8 ball entirely and I ended up losing the match. Live and learn. lol

I received this email from Melissa Herndon

"Hi Ladies,

So...it's started...the Southern California Ladies 9-Ball Tour (SCL9T) is well on its way to becoming a reality. We will be establishing a mailing address (as soon as the non-profit application is processed)....and the website is in development as we speak.

We have booked out first event already! I considered holding off on sharing that until I could launch everything....but I decided to get the word out so that you can all mark your calendars instead!

The Kick-Off event will be held April 17-18th at Mr. Pockets in Manhattan Beach. I will send out an official flyer with detailed information later in the month. But for now....Save the Date....April 17-18. I really hope that you can all come and support the event. The bigger the turnout...the better chance I have of rebooking the venue for another event....and it will show other venues that the SCL9T is going to be a big success!!!!

If you can commit now to playing in the Kickoff event....you can email me back to let me know and I will start a sign-up list. However, once the SCL9T is fully established (once the non-profit paperwork is approved and a bank account opened)...I will send out the official notification so that you can send entry fees in advance.

I'm really looking forward to getting the SCL9T up and running...and now that we have a first event on the horizon...I really hope that y'all are starting to get excited as well.

More updates soon!!!!

Melissa Herndon"

Her email address is socalwomenstour@gmail.com

I hope to see some of you there.

FAQ's - how it all works Riverside APA explained

We have many new members in Riverside APA. WELCOME!
I am getting a lot of the same questions about how it all works. How do you get qualified etc.
The information below is to help everyone understand the structure of Riverside APA

What is a division? A division consists of a number of teams (from 6 to 16) competing with each other in a set schedule. In some instances a division may start with only four teams. Every area of play is considered a division currently Riverside APA has 22 divisions! You can look here http://riversideapa.com/about_us/division_list.asp to see a list of the divisions.

What is my Division number? The 1st three numbers of you team number is your division number.

How do you win your division? The points are totaled over the course of a session.
The teams with the most points at the end of the session, wins the division and is named the division champions.

How do you get into the play-off’s? At the end of the session the teams that place in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will advance to the play-offs. The one wild card is drawn from the remaining teams. Week one of the play-off’s the 2nd place team and the 4th place team play each other. The 3rd place team and the wild card play each other. The second week of play-off’s the winners from the previous week will play. The winner of that match is declared the play-off winners! In large divisions (10 or more teams) there is double play-off’s so there will be 2 play-off winners.

How long is a session? The There are three sessions during a League year, beginning with the Summer, followed by the Fall, and ending with the Spring Session, followed by the Team Championships. Each session can be 12-16 weeks long. As soon as the play-off’s are done from one session the next week the new session will start.

What is the tri-cup tournament and how do I qualify? The tri-cup tournament consists of the division champions and the play-off winners from each division for that session. The tri-cup is a team event. To qualify with the team you must have played 4 matches during the session. The top teams from the tri-cup will advance to the League Team Championship (LTC’s) in June. If your team does not place in the top of the board you will have to re-qualify the next session.

What is the LTC’s? The LTC’s is what it is all about! The top placing teams from all three session ending tri-cup tournaments will play in the LTC’s. The winners of the LTC’s, go to Las Vegas in August to participate in the National Team Championships. Currently Riverside APA sends three 8 Ball team and two 9 ball teams. The number of teams that go to Vegas is determined by the total team count! So the more teams playing during the year the more teams go to Vegas!

I hope this helps to answer a lot of questions.
If you continue to have questions please post them here in the forum that is why it is here!

Kim Starkey
Riverside APA
Website Administrator

Currently, to find a Host Location you need to put in a zip code. You would need to put in every zip code in a particular city to try and find the host locations in that particular city.
I suggest changing the search from a zip code to a City Search. You should be able to type in, Riverside, for instance and it would pull up all host locations in that city. It could be set up to show a map with flags showing the host locations and when you point to the flag it could show the name, address and phone number of the host. This is already being done in San Diego and Orange County. :)
